Tips on How to create beautiful and comfortable spaces in your home
We will share some examples focusing on declutter, greenery, textile layers, and lighting.
Declutter
Your budget may determine how much you can do to impact your space. But this tip, you can do for free.
A cluttered space can highly can affect how you feel in your space. Whenever a space makes me feel uninspired, the first thing I do is take away the things that I don’t love or that doesn’t serve a purpose. Ask yourself, when is the last time I used this item or wore this clothing. If you went through an entire winter without wearing a certain sweater, consider donating it. Clear off clutter on counter tops.
You will be amazed by how much clutter can sap your energy! Seeing spaces free of clutter will also make your space appear cleaner
and will also make cleaning so much easier. So start with one counter, one drawer or one closet.
Set a timer for 15 minutes and see how much clutter you can get rid of! And keep going until you can declutter all of your home. I like to start in my bedroom because it should be a space that is free of stress, where you can rejuvenate and refresh yourself.
Greenery
There is not a space that greenery doesn’t look good in!
It’s the perfect amount of color if your room is neutral and you’re looking to add a little color!
Whether it’s a small plant for your shelf or a tree in the corner, greenery brings life to a room. If you don’t have a “green thumb”, consider faux plants. Faux is low maintenance and can look so real!
I look for faux greens that do not have a shiny finish. I find a matte leaf has a more realistic look. But if you are going to go for real plants, they have the added bonus of filtering the air for a healthier space.
Textiles
Layers of fabric can do so much for a space! I like to add texture at the end of a bed by throwing a soft blanket across it. Hang a cozy bathrobe on the back of a door to soften a space and make it feel so cozy.
When it comes to bath towels... the bigger the better! Who doesn’t love wrapping themselves up in a big, warm blanket when they step out of a shower. I always have one hanging outside a shower. It adds texture to the wall and is aesthetically pleasing.
Throw a blanket over the back or arm of a sofa to add some texture there as well.
Lighting
Proper lighting can make or break a space! If you have all overhead lighting, why not balance the light with some lamps spread out throughout the room. It will bounce the light
around so that you are not stuck with lots of dark shadows.
And don’t underestimate the effect of candlelight. The flickering of light adds a very comfortable vibe to any space.
I hope these tips help you to create your own beautiful haven at home!
